Everything’s bigger in Texas – including the fun; there’s a massive amount to explore in The Lone Star State, especially if you’re with a group of friends. No matter whether you’re looking for expansive hiking trails or bustling cultural experiences, the place has it all. The question is, how do you choose what to prioritize?

This quick guide is here to help you: here are five fun things to do with your friends as you travel across Texas!

1. Exploring Austin: The State Capital

If you’re in Texas, you and your friends owe it to yourselves to explore the lively streets of Austin. No matter what you’re interested in, there’s truly something for everyone: you’ll find plenty of great places to eat and drink, unique music venues, and excellent shopping facilities.

If you’re searching for something a bit different, you should definitely check out the Museum of Ice Cream: there are a ton of cool installations to view and interact with and, of course, plenty of ice cream to try!

2. Hunting Ranches

Given the impressive natural landscape, Texas has a great hunting scene, so if you’ve always wanted to try the hobby, this is the place. It doesn’t matter whether you’re already familiar or just a beginner, there are plenty of places that offer hunting and lodging as a package for the full experience.

The state is considered to have some of the best hunting ranches in the country: SandFork Texas Hog Hunting Ranch is a particular favorite, for example.

Since you are going to have such a great experience with hunting it only makes sense that you should stock up on the right hunting gear. This is especially important if you are new to the hunting scene. You want to make sure that you have everything at your disposal so that you will enjoy it.

3. Big Bend National Park

Texas is known for its beautiful national parks, and Big Bend is one of the most impressive. There are so many wonderful hikes you can complete with your friends, and the park offers some of the most stunning views over Texas available: if you’re on a drive-through, you can snap some pictures of the breathtaking mountain ranges and canyons. You could also head there at night for a spot of stargazing.

4. Fort Worth Stockyards

If you’re looking for that old West Texas charm and cowboy culture, you should most certainly check out Fort Worth Stockyards. Nestled in the historic district of Fort Worth, the area used to be a major livestock market, but today, it’s full of western-themed shops, saloons, rodeos, and more. It’s a fantastic place to spend the day or evening with a group of friends.

5. South Padre Island

Texas is a pretty full-on place, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to do to relax. If you want to chill out for a bit, head to South Padre Island off the state’s southern coast.

It’s known for its serene beaches and is a great spot for fishing or bird watching (there are also some great bars over there, too).

Wrapping Up

There’s a ton of exciting stuff to get up to in Texas if you’re with your friends, so use the above ideas as starting points to build off. You’ll find that as you start exploring on your own, more great opportunities open up to you. Have fun!
