Almost three quarters of the earth’s surface is covered in ocean, and on top of that there are rivers, lakes and other bodies of water. And so if you’ve never experienced a boating vacation of some kind you’re really missing out, regardless of the type of trip you enjoy there really is something for everyone out there. Here are some examples of the diverse and exciting boating vacations you could book for this summer!

Paris

Paris is known for being one of the most romantic cities in the world. With gorgeous views and the strangely magical hustle and bustle of excited tourists, people have been falling in love in Paris for centuries. However if you want to go a step further, why not stay on a houseboat on the Seine river during your trip? A fun alternative to a hotel with stunning views over the water, you will be situated in the middle of the city which is convenient and the stay is surprisingly peaceful.

Dubai

If you’ve ever looked at photos of Dubai, you’ll notice how many of them are taken from the water. And there’s a good reason for this, it really does provide the best opportunity to see the dynamic cityscape. Dubai is an incredibly interesting destination and one well worth popping on your travel bucket list. A few years ago it was simply desert, it’s now the fastest growing city in the world, home to some of the tallest buildings on earth. It’s glamorous and glittering, packed with stunning architecture, luxury hotels, five star restaurants and huge malls. Not to mention tropical weather! Look for companies which offer yachts to rent while you’re there, you could either self drive or pay to have a driver and staff on board.

The Virgin Islands

According to The Big Sail, the Virgin Islands are the sailing capital of the world. This group of islands in the Caribbean is actually U.S. territory, they’re known for their white-sand beaches, reefs and lush green hills. You could go power boating, rent a dinghy or go for a full cruise, either way it’s a beautiful place on earth and great if you want to explore the waters.

Florida

Another fantastic boating destination offering tropical sunshine is Florida. Enjoy the blue waters and you could even meet some friendly wild dolphins! There’s plenty to do in the Sunshine State, from Disney to International Drive, tonnes of other tourist attractions and the Florida Keys where you can throw a yacht party or ride in a glass bottom boat. Sun, sea and sand, the perfect combination and a great choice if you want a vacation on the water.

Australia

Australia is of course home to the Great Barrier Reef, the largest living structure on earth. Visiting this natural wonder is something that many of us have jotted on our bucket list, not only do you get to take in the blue oceans and awesome coral but you will see fascinating sea creatures and if you go at the right time of year you could even see  whale pods migrating for deeper waters. Hire a boat and go out and explore the reef, it will be quite unlike anything else you’ve ever done.
