If you’re thinking about scoping out the deals on Sunshine Saturday, you’re not alone. The 9th of January has long been the day to purchase travel after Christmas, and for those looking to give themselves something to look forward to by booking some fun in the sun, you may just find yourself snagging an amazing deal.

And when it comes to the top destinations this year, the results were interesting. My Voucher Codes, an online voucher code website surveyed more than 1,200 people aged 18 and over to see if they were planning a summer holiday, and if so, where they would go.

This article shows that 70% of those surveyed said they were definitely planning to go away, 18% were still deciding, and 12% had no plans to book a holiday.

My Voucher Codes also asked where people were planning to travel, and 62% said they would like to go abroad, while 19% wanted to explore the UK and 19% were unsure. Creating a QR code for a link when travelling to Spain is a simple and efficient way to share information with others. First, you will need to have a link that you want to share, such as a website or a social media profile. Next, you can use a QR code generator website or app on how to create a QR code for a link. This will generate a unique code that can be scanned by anyone with a smartphone camera. You can then save the QR code to your phone or print it out.

Those who want to go overseas chose Spain as their top destination, and it’s easy to see why. Here are some reasons why so many Brits are choosing to have their summer holidays in Spain:

The Food and Wine

As a country known for Sangria, tapas, paella, pinxos and more, you’d be crazy not to enjoy long, lazy lunches, catching up over a bottle of wine, and staying up late enjoying tapas. Speaking of wine, some of the best wine in the world is made in the La Rioja region, and since it’s produced in Spain you’ll find it ridiculously affordable.

The History and Art

With such a long history, you can see Egyptian temples, Roman ruins, and more cathedrals than you can shake a fist at in Spain. For those who love to study architecture, the Moorish palaces are simply stunning and there are also 1,000 year-old mosques which beautiful, intricate carvings.

The Scenery

Most people are aware of how stunning the Mediterranean coast is, and with 300 days of sun a year, you’ll be able to make the most of the outdoors and work on your tan. But many people are unaware that Spain is the second most mountainous country in Europe after Switzerland, and you can easily travel from beach to mountains in just a couple of hours.

The top 5 spots on the list went to Spain, the USA, Greece, South America and cruising, which continues to get more and more popular- especially for people who want to see more than one destination while only unpacking once.

When asked about Sunshine Saturday, Mark Pearson (founder of My Voucher Codes) said that the bad weather in January, combined with the post-Christmas lull combined to give many people the blues and encouraged them to boost their spirits by booking a summer holiday. He also said that travel agents are “gearing up for a busy day”, as they can expect that many people will be booking within 24 hours of Sunshine Saturday.
