While travelling is hugely rewarding, it can also bring some negative health issues with it. Most of us tend to over-indulge while we’re travelling, and a life of constant travel can have a bad effect on your body.
Here are some ways you can stay healthy while travelling:
Get enough sleep
This may seem obvious, but how often have you gotten up early for a flight, been unable to sleep on the plane, and then dealt with jetlag on the other end. When you’re crossing multiple time zones, doing lots of walking, and dealing with the stress of travel, it’s important that you get enough rest. This could mean taking a nap once you reach your destination or having an early night and taking it easy on your first day of travel.
Stay active
One of the best parts of travelling? Eating plenty of delicious food. After all, food is a large part of any culture. But with those extra calories can come weight gain, unless you’re working hard to stay active. Not only is walking a great way to see a destination, but you’ll be burning off all that pasta and gelato in Rome or the pad thai in Thailand.
Biking is also a great way to see the sites- whether you choose a women’s beach cruiser or would like to design your bike. It’s easier than you might think to travel with a bike and a fun way to see the world.
Eat Breakfast
When you’re on the go, you’ll probably be hungrier than you would be if you were sitting in an office at home. That’s why you should always make sure you have a nice healthy breakfast. You can easily grab some cereal or instant oatmeal and keep it in your hotel or bring some protein powder or protein bars for a breakfast on the go. You can also save a ton of money this way since you’ll be able to stock up on fruit, break, yoghurt, and other healthy snacks at the local grocery store.
Stay hydrated
Make sure you carry a drink bottle with you at all times and drink more water than you think you need. This is especially important if you’re travelling in summer, where you can quickly start to feel dizzy and ill if you’re walking around in hot temperatures.
