Miami is always a good idea- especially if you like the idea of planning a family-friendly vacation that will allow everyone to enjoy themselves. However, there are a few things you should know before you begin planning your trip so you can get the most out of it and keep it as stress-free as possible:

Hire a car

This may sound simple, but hiring a car can make a massive difference when it comes to your stress levels. Imagine this scenario: You arrive in Miami airport with your family, and you need to either locate the hotel shuttle or get a taxi. Then, you need to load everyone into the car (challenging if you’ve brought a car seat with you), and get to the hotel. Once you’re at the hotel, you’re left either trying to rely on public transport, or taking expensive taxis or Ubering everywhere.

Now imagine this scenario: You arrive at Miami airport, and immediately head to your car rental pickup, where you rent a car. Before you know it, you’re behind the wheel and on your way to the hotel, where you can put your kids down for a nap or head straight back out and explore- without needing to worry about how you’ll get from Point A to Point B.

Create an itinerary

If you’re the type who likes to take each day as it comes, this may not sound like a good plan to you. But creating an itinerary doesn’t mean you need to plan out every moment of every day. Instead, it helps ensure that you have enough time to see the main things you want to see- while still enjoying some downtime and relaxation.

Make a list of the top attractions you’d like to see, and take a look at their opening hours and when they’re the most busy. If you can, pre-purchase your tickets before you arrive so you won’t miss out on anything amazing. Then, leave a few hours free each day so you can relax, wander, or just lie on the beach.

Get out and about

There’s no question that Miami is jam-packed with great things to do, but when you book a car rental in Miami, you can get out of the city and see some of the other great sights in the the area. Fort Lauderdale is super close, and you can also head down to Key West, or even take the kids up to see DisneyWorld in Orlando.

Leave a few extra days at the end of your trip so you can take a road trip or simply see some of the other great beaches further from Miami.
