Why you should travel to Jersey

Looking for a new holiday destination? A trip to Jersey will have you wondering why you haven’t visited sooner. Located just a quick 55 minute flight from London, Jersey is becoming a foodie destination, and it’s also perfect for anyone who loves sun and sand, with plenty of culture to go with it.

Here are just a few reasons why you need to travel to Jersey ASAP:

Amazing beaches

Jersey has a lot to offer, but one of the main reasons so many people choose to visit is the stunning beaches. The 50-mile coastline is incredibly varied, with endless sand dunes on the western side and rugged cliffs up north. If you love the idea of lying on the beach doing nothing, this island was made for sunbathing, while people who like to get a little more active may enjoy a gentle hike.

And of course, with all those beaches you have water, making it a great holiday destination if you love watersports. Whether you love kayaking, prefer to go windsurfing, or plan to spend the day jetskiing, Jersey has something for everyone.

Top-notch restaurants

Jersey has cemented itself as a top destination for foodies. In St. Helier there is a restaurant called Ormer, that serves up arguably the best lobster you’ve had in your life. The slow cooked beef is another stand out. At El Tico, you’ll be able to get a table in full view of sunset, as long as you’re prepared to hustle (they don’t take reservations)

It’s super close

Even driving to Cornwall, which is Jersey’s less-cool cousin, involves hours of traffic along the A303. Instead, you can jump on a quick flight out of Gatwick or London and be in Jersey in less than an hour and on the beach in less than 2.

Culture

If you like to get a bit of culture in with your holiday, Jersey has some interesting history and culture waiting to be explored. During the war, Jersey was occupied by the Germans. You should definitely consider visiting the War Tunnels, which was an underground Nazi hospital where you can learn all about the occupation and eventual liberation.

Be sure to check out La Mare Wine Estate and take a tour of this incredible vineyard. If you like opera, check out the opera house, and if you’ve got kids, the zoo is a great day out.
